Free downloads for music lovers is like candy for kids so we thought to scoop up such free releases and spread the word about them as often as we can here at P2PON. This section will compile reports taken from various sources just to keep you posted with the latest free music downloads made available by emerging or consecrated artists (and include, of course, links for free downloads).
So let’s check out what’s on today’s plate:
Childish Gambino – Royalty (Mixtape)
Actor/rapper Childish Gambino has been buzzing over the couple years, thanks to his grassroots approach of releasing free music online and in the streets, as well as a handful of indie projects.
His latest release comes in the form of the newly released Royalty, his first new mixtape since 2010′s I Am Just A Rapper 2 and follows his 2011 debut LP Camp.
The free, 18-track mixtape boasts a slew of interesting collaborations, including guest spots from the likes of vets like the RZA, Bun B and Ghostface Killah, as well as newcomers such as Danny Brown, ScHoolboy Q, Alley Boy, and Nipsey Hussle.
Gambino even nabbed a guest appearance from former SNL star/comedienne Tina Fey, who appears on the tape’s final cut “Real Estate,” making her rap debut with a funny verse.
“My president is black and my Prius is blue motherf***er / Royalty all day, we droppin’ racks in Nordstroms son / That’s racks on racks damn it / You feel me? You feel me?,” Fey hilariously spits in her verse — Gambino worked on Fey’s NBC series “30 Rock” as a writer, so her appearance isn’t totally shocking.
Gambino handles the bulk of the tape’s production, but manages to get a few beats from Boi-1da, Ludwig, and even Beck. (via Ballerstatus)

Walk The Moon – Tightrope
Hotly tipped US band Walk The Moon have made their debut track “Tightrope” available as a free download, available now. Taken from their critically-acclaimed self-titled album which entered the US album charts in the Top 40 last week – which has been produced by Ben H. Allen (Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective) and is set for release in the UK in autumn – “Tightrope” is a synth-heavy, frenetic introduction to the band as thunderous percussion intertwines with guitar swirls and a singalong, infectious chorus line.
