BitTornado Review

bittornado-review BitTornado (TheSHAD0Ws EXPERIMENTAL BITTORRENT CLIENT) resembles a lot the official BitTorrent client and was created as a version with many adjustments using the official BitTorrent client.

While its ‘performance’ is very good, some users find the interface rather poor. What distinguishes BitTornado from the official BitTorrent Client is the fact that it is able to adjust upload rate and the number of maximum uploads. The app also comes with pre-defined settings for different types of connections to the Internet.

BitTornado was written in Python (2.4), which is an interpreted, interactive, object-oriented programming language (often compared to Tcl, Perl, Scheme or Java). This is free client to download and use under the Open Source License (the download link is at the bottom of the page).

BitTornado includes a large number of features ( common to all major BitTorrent clients) connected to downloading and making torrent files and also concerned with showing information about the files and the current status of your download/upload speeds. The program is accessible to both novice and more advanced users.

Cancels downloading/uploading process;
Pauses downloading/uploading process;
Moves files to a directory when completed;

Strong Points:
If you want a p2p client with a simple and clean interface that is user-friendly, small memory footprint and informative GUI, BitTornado is a good option. A very good feature is the “disk cache”, which saves your hard drive from getting to busy writing all the data you are downloading at 500KB.

Weak Points:
The big minus of BitTornado comes from its looks. This app is not pretty but it’s robust.

A very good solution for downloading via BitTorrent.
