It’s only understandable that after Kim’s business was shut down, he’d want to re-launch his website. As a matter of fact, Kim Dotcom already made public his intentions of bringing Megaupload back as a massive global network.
“MEGA will return. Bigger. Better. Faster. Free of charge & shielded from attacks. Evolution!” reads Kim’s tweet.
For some it may be hard to take a bite on Kim’s saying, especially that his feature is still uncertain; Kim and some of his associates may be extradited to the U.S. for several charges, including racketeering and money laundering, but the decision is yet to come. However, Dotcom is confident and said that Megaupload will return, even stronger than before.
“Developers get ready. The Mega API [application programming interface] will provide incredible powers. Our API and your Mega tools will change the world,” he said.
Everyone’s invited to the new Megaupload, except U.S. citizens (or at least U.S. IP addresses), but that’s not a surprise given Kim’s “history” with U.S. authorities.
“We are building a massive global network. All non-US hosters will be able to connect servers & bandwidth,” said the internet entrepreneur.
According to him, Megaupload will be more than just a file-sharing service, bringing to the public a vast range of applications. To get a better idea on what the future API will bring, Kim’s invited developers of e-mail, fax-tools, VOIP and video apps to get in touch.
Security is also a prime target for the incoming website and will offer easy encryption of all data transfers, free of charge.
Moreover, Dotcom also mentioned something about a new music service called Megabox through which artists can sell their tracks directly to their fans. However, Megabox will keep 90% of the sales.
“They abused the wrong guy. I am going to turn this world upside down. Power to the people. Bye bye Echelon. Hello Freedom,” he concluded.
