Unlock Pirate Bay’s World Of Goodies With “Pirate Patch”

It’s not long since the circle of blocking The Pirate Bay on UK soil has been completed by one of the island’s most prominent internet providers – read BT. The torrent haven is also having problems in The Netherlands and several other countries, but a solution arrived – it’s called Pirate Patch!

After these drastic measures, proxy services quickly became a temporary solution, letting people access TPB just like before. However, there are problems when using a public proxy such as low speeds, lack of real privacy, and even the possibility of getting a bit of malware on your computer. Even further, accessing TPB through proxies comes with yet another issue: referrals through Google and meta-search engines like Torrentz are no longer viable, at least not easily.

One solution for the connoisseurs is to edit the “hosts file” in order to link Pirate Bay’s original domain name to a reverse proxy. This is exactly what the Dutch-based Pirate Bay user Qarizma had in mind when he wrote the code for The Pirate Patch.

As you run it, Windows is automatically adding the necessary lines into the “hosts file” and boom, you have access to Pirate Bay’s official website (.se or .org).

“The real domain is blocked where I live, and it gives me a kick when I browse The Pirate Bay on the original URL. It just feels better,” Qarizma told TF.

Moreover, Pirate Patch comes with three options: install, remove changes, and update. As a matter of fact, Qarizma confirmed to TF that he will continuously update the list of working proxies. The Pirate Patch is Open Source; the batch file is accessible by extracting the .exe file.

Have fun, and enjoy!
