File-Sharing Meets Religion

While the social implications and meanings of file-sharing have come to the attention of many, now it’s the first time its holiness is also brought about.

In the eyes of 19-year-old Swedish philosophy student Isaac Gerson file sharing is sacred. Gerson is the leader of the Missionary Church of Kopimism and regards  sharing as a sign of appreciation. According to TorrentFreak, he also has compared closed-source software to slavery.

In 2010 Gerson tried to get his cult recognized as a religion but without success. The ambitious youngster, however, said he would not give up.
