Music Industry Celebrates: 4 Bulgarian File-Sharing Sites Taken Down

Following investigations that lasted several months, four Bulgarian file sharing sites the Big 4 labels claim to be illegal have been taken down much to the joy of the latter.

In the so-called investigation, some role was played by the Bulgarian Cyber Crime Unit which was prompt to give a hand and protect the interests of Vivendi Universal (France), Sony (Japan), EMI (Britain), and Warner Music. The Bulgarian Association of the Music Producers (BAMP), allegedly the one behind the complaint that started the whole investigation, received official congratulations just as officers from the Cyber Crime Unit for their help with the matter (they should probably come up with a Kissin’ US Music Industry’s Ass Award or something).

“It is only by such actions that Bulgaria can hope to develop a legitimate digital economy in the future,” said the BAMP’s statement.

According to the IFPI (International Federation of Phonographic Industry), the anti-piracy action led to the confiscation of two computer systems and “documents from one of the people they arrested who is suspected of orchestrating the illegal operation.”

The victim-sites that have been shutdown are nanoset.net, rapidadd.com, 4storing.com and afasta.com.
