P2PON Recommends: “Inglorious Basterds”
Each week P2PON presents a film and provides you with a link where you can download it and watch it in good quality.
Welcome back, Tarantino!
First of all, I have to apologize for last week’s absence but we'll definitely make up for it this week with another review for you guys.
This was one of the most anticipated films this year and the question that naturally rises is: was it worth the wait? Well, it will probably depend on the viewer since even I watched it with some friends who did not share my opinion entirely. Why don’t I hesitate to recommend it then? Because, watching it is not going to be a waste of time, that’s for sure. Yeah, it’s long, yeah too much conversation (but what delightful dialogues!), yeah too little Brad Pitt and his basterds (many minutes pass sometimes between his appearances) and perhaps, for many, not lot of action…but still, the movie is one of Tarantino’s best. Some even regard it as the best just as the movie itself ends with the line "This might just be my masterpiece."
Tarantino’s WWII saga is a brilliantly written cinematographic piece. As far as dialogues, gore scenes and sharp performances go, no fan of the controversial director will be disappointed.
We mentioned performances – well, there are at least two that need total recognition – that of Christoph Waltz as the despicable Nazi Colonel Hans Landa, one of most persuading and complex villain I’ve seen in a long time and that of Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine, who, as a bit undeveloped as he remains, still brings about good laughs and enjoyment. But don't think that's just about all there is to it – Mélanie Laurent and Diane Kruger do great jobs with their characters as well.
“Inglorious Basterds” makes fictitious justice to all those that suffered under Nazi occupation and it unveils Tarantino’s touch right from the start. It’s easily captivating, constructed, as Quentin has accustomed us by now, around several chapters that tell a story each, leading to a climatic, intense end that unfolds the ultimate revenge of a Jewish young woman. Tarantino’s other habit of paying homage to the films that influenced him along the years surfaces several times throughout the production – films like Dirty Dozen, or the Inglorious Bastards,
