Donald Duck Used in Anti-File Sharing Propaganda
Donald Duck has become a controversial cartoon character as the file sharing issue even penetrated the comic albums.
It all started with a recently published Donald Duck comic album where the famous protagonist picks up illegal file sharing, Stockholm News reports.
The story has Donald Duck (Kalle Anka in Swedish) adopting file sharing as a means for making a quick buck. Of course, the story comes with a moral message that easily emerges from the episode – downloading music illegally is a crime.
Shortly after the episode was published not few were those to say that it was more than likely ordered by the music industry. According to Fredrik Strömberg, chairman of the Swedish Association for Promotion of Comics the story published can be easily regarded as propaganda, and that is not very cool.
The controversy caused the publisher to regret having published the episode in question especially since they don’t want to get involved politically in any issue – and we all know how the topic of file sharing has turned Sweden into a real battlefield.
