Rock Band Network to Be Launched Next Month
Indie Artists Welcomed to the Game
The success that Rock Band has had so far has inspired its producers to take the game even further. An announcement made by MTV Games and Harmonix that they intend to start the Rock Band Network in August, opens the door to indie musicians who will be given the chance to include their music to the popular game.
The network will allow artists to charge between 50 cents and $3 per track, and they will be guaranteed 30 % cut of total sales.
If you are one of those interested in programming tracks for the instrument game Cnet says a membership to Microsoft's XNA Creators' Club is required. The club "was launched a couple years ago to let independent developers create casual games to sell through the Xbox Live Marketplace; a membership costs $49.99 for four months or $99.99 for a year."
The songs that are approved will be launched only on the Xbox 360 for the first month after which MTV will select the most popular tracks and launch them on the PS3 and Wii as well.
