Top Downloads: iPhone Apps Hit 1.5 Billion Downloads
It’s been little over a year since the launch of App Store live and the company announced yesterday a new impressive milestone being reached: 1.5 billion applications downloaded. Apple says the number of available apps exceeds 65,000 and more than 100,000 developers are involved in what has become the largest store for applications. with a market of including more than 40 million devices (iPhones and the iPod Touch).
Taking a moment to praise the achievement Steve Jobs said: “The App Store is like nothing the industry has ever seen before in both scale and quality. With 1.5 billion apps downloaded, it is going to be very hard for others to catch up,” and who can argue, I mean, the ones you could label as rivals – Nokia, Palm, or BlackBerry – are merely in their infancy in terms of development of their own platforms for apps.
