Spain’s 'Three-Strikes' P2P Policy Already History?
As hard as it must have been for Spanish copyright holders, they seem to have finally dealt with the fact that the government is not going to enforce a "three-strikes" policy that would cut off the Internet connection of repeat file-sharers. Yet, they didn’t give up hope of getting some other measures imposed such as the slowing down the speed of the Internet.
According to Billboard, The head of the Coalition of Creators and Content Industries, which includes label trade group Promusicae and publishers' society SGAE, announced that the organization doesn’t intend to criminalize Internet users who download copyrighted material.
Speaking about the group’s future plans, Coalition's president Aldo Olcese said it would be mainly concentrating on persuading the government to help close the reportedly more than 200 BitTorrent tracker sites located in the country.
