Experienced P2P Users Prepared to Go Stealth
There have been several studies on what would be the internet users’ reaction to a notice sent by their ISPs telling them to stop any file sharing activity online but each of them argued the results of the other.
We learn fresh information on the matter from a survey published by TorrentFreak in which readers (also fervent file sharers) “confessed” how they would behave in case they reveive such a warning letter.
41 percent of them said they would resort to p2p anonimity services to protect their identity online (lately such services like BitBlinder and The Pirate Bay’s IPREDator have reveived much coverage). A small percentage of 7% of those taking the survey said they would end their file-sharing habit.
Yet, we have to consider that less tech-savvy internet users who indulge (occasionally or not) in file sharing are (more) likely to be easily scared off when receiving a warning from their ISP compared to those who know their way around the Web.
