PlayStation 2 Tops the Chart – Gamers’ Console of Choice
Nintendo Wii has been ruling the gaming world for more than 2 years but now the time another champion has come – Sony PlayStation 2 continues to be the first choice of gamers this year.
Let’s let numbers speak for themselves – as Nielsen figures present, of all the time gamefreaks spent playing video games in April, over 22% of it was spent using the PS2. Microsoft Xbox 360 came very close as well, accounting for 21 %. Nintendo Wii has been on a descending slope and now it has got to 18 % (from the initial 21%). Further on the chart, PS3 follows shy with 11%.
When it comes to games, as most of you already know probably – World of Warcraft on the PC is still the undisputed king, grabbing about 44 % of all total minutes played in the month. Next (and distantly) comes a game that has gained a lot of popularity – Second Life, accounted for only 6 % of the “gaming time”.
As AfterDawn reports, “Warcraft gamers also averaged about 10 hours of playing time a week for the game, says Neilsen, second only to Lord of the Rings: Shadows of Angmar, where gamers spent on average 15 hours per week playing.”
