Google Prepares Another Revolution: Google Wave
The giant that Google has become is expecting a new offspring. The team behind Google Maps, or at least two of the developers in the team, announced last week what would be the company’s main project this year.
Called Google Wave, this is anticipated as the next generation of Internet communication. From what has been suggested, this new creation will be an impressive crossbreed between multiple services such as email, instant messaging, Wikipedia, blogs, and, of course, file sharing.
Below we reveal some of the features said to be truly revolutionary in terms of communication as posted on examiner.com:
Its own terminology. In order to understand what it is you’re doing in Wave, you will have to learn a brand new lingo with words such as wave, wavelet, blip, gadget, robot, just to name a few.
Real time communication. What sets Google Wave’s real time communication a step above the rest is literally seeing what is being input on the screen as the person you’re talking to is inputting it. As in you see what I’m typing as I’m typing it.
Drag and drop file sharing. Attachments will be obsolete once Wave hits. You will be able to simply click and drag a file into the wave and it will drop in for everyone to see.
Wiki Functionality. In the same way that users can go into Wikipedia and edit the information, users of Wave will have the ability to go into other user’s waves and do any necessary editing and sharing.
It’s already a certainty that Google will be comfortably placing itself far from any competition by introducing a totally new way in which online communication is perceived and used. Wave will definitely mean the beginning of a new technological era that will change significantly our lives (on personal level as well as business one).
