'Resident Evil 5' in Great Demand despite P2P Leak
Back in March we reported about Capcom's horror game Resident Evil 5 (PS3/X360) leaking to torrent sites before its official release. The game company began fearing a huge loss in sales.
The facts would have them proven wrong – not only did launch month sales go rocket high but it seems the leak didn’t hurt the sales even at this time.
According to Capcom CFO Kazuhiko Abe sales of the sequel are currently at 4.97 million and still climbing. He added that they sold 4.4 million units in debut month (March) alone, and that the game will reach 5 million very soon.
Capcom has often spoken against illegal file sharing over the Internet which, claims the company, has caused Devil May Cry 4 sales to drop dramatically. As a direct consequence, the publisher further claims, they abandoned the plan to release it digitally.
