Vuze Releases Portable Version
Users of the popular Java-based BitTorrent p2p client Vuze (formerly known as Azureus), now have the possibility to own a portable version of the program in exchange for $9.99 USD.
This portable version was designed to be compatible with a flash drive or external HDD. The company decided upon this move after recent reports showed that 72 % of Vuze users have a portable drive.
Vuze to Go, as it was called comes with its own virtual operating system in association with the ‘virtualization’ technology company Ceedo (due to the fact that most users don’t have portable drives with Java installed on them).
Chris Thun, Director of Marketing for Vuze pointed out to their effort in coming up with the best and unique solution for their users which does justify its price:
“We’ve invested in creating a portable solution that has an entirely different ease-of-use relative to any other solution in the market. We believe that if we’re solving a real problem in an elegant way, our users will be willing to pay for it.”
Thun also wanted to explain: “The Vuze application bundled into Vuze To Go is still open source. However, the Ceedo virtualization package is not open source.”
