Wixi: File Sharing, Storage & Streaming Desktop
Create your own Online Media Center – The service offers a virtual social networking desktop designed for sharing and streaming files with friends
Back in September we were telling you about a new social file-sharing network, Wixi , which was basically a media-centric virtual desktop that allowed users to play their media files using any machine that supported Flash and which also offered the possibility of sharing content between friends.
Today we return with more info about this “Online Media Center” worth-checking-out. Users are offered options for (no limits) storage and streaming of audio and video files all through an intuitive and attractive desktop-like interface which, once you’ve uploaded the files you wanted, lets you share access with whoever you want.
Regarding the social networking feature the service is especially great due to the fact it allows you to stream movies or music that friends have recommended or view bunch of photos they’ve taken. Wixi includes a “Friends Activity Report” to help you keep track of the contacts added to your trusted network.
A recently added feaure makes the service even more interesting – there’s an XBMC plugin that lets users use their Wixi page on a game console they like. However, there’s a catch here – this is a subscription service and packages are priced between $7.95 per month and $69.95 per year.
Overall Wixi makes a good alternative to all the storage and sharing solutions already available so this is definitely a noteworthy option to consider.
