Limewire Turns to Online Video, Wants to Introduce Podcast Directory
The developing team of the popular p2p file-sharing program Limewire is working to create a podcast directory dubbed LimeCast. It seems that the company is currently engaged in collecting content but also in developing the actual platform, which is already online as a work-in-progress, open-source project.
While no official statement about the directory has been made, the general assumption points to a future integration into the Limewire client.
This development is quite a great deal covered by many aspects – we can easily call it Limewire’s first noteworthy attempt to step onto the online video scene.
Podcasters may also get some notable additional exposure. Apart from these, the P2P client itself could become a major step forward with regard to the considerable free bandwidth it would offer to the podcasting world by easing up the downloads through Gnutella and BitTorrent.
