Wuala and LaCie Team Up, Aim at Digital Storage Mainstream
Wuala, a p2p storage startup we covered in previous posts hits the news again. The service owned by Caleido AG has closed a deal with LaCie, the French manufacturer of external storage devices and since one side comes with the application and the other provides storage hardware this is only a natural course of things.
Although the deal was called a merger Wuala is obviously much smaller than LaCie. Nevertheless, Grolimund has proved great ability in leading the Wuala that took up four years ago to a level where it could turn into a dependable and secure cloud storage with millions of devices supporting it.
Philippe Spruch, founder and CEO of LaCie sees the deal as the major step which will bring the company to the digital storage market as an important provider. Why not?
