IMDb: Wouldn’t You Like All Our Movies Available for Free Streaming?
The well-know movie database site IMDb has set itself a new goal according to founder Col Needham. The site aspires at offering "free streaming of its entire database of movies and TV shows" which would mean almost 1.5 million cinema and TV productions.
Amazon, which owns IMDb, has been testing the online video market and has become involved in this new segment launching its Amazon VOD service.
Needham said that currently the site has 57 million unique users per month which makes it (surprise…) the most popular site of its kind. In 2008, the company also acquired Box Office Mojo, the most popular movie gross tracking website. The same year IMDb saw the entrance of web video with the addition of 14,000 TV episodes and 2000 film plus120,000 trailers, interviews and other "bonus features."
