A New Milestone for Nintendo DS: 100 million Units Sold

Nintendo DS handheld is a winner so far

The giant game producer Nintendo announced that the popular DS handheld has passed another milestone, 100 million unit sales worldwide as of March 6th.

The company launched the handheld in the second half of 2005 in Japan and North America and at the beginning of the same year for the European market .The DS Lite’s official launch was in the Q2 2006 for both markets.

Sales refer to the original "fat" DS, the streamlined DS Lite and the more recent DSi which comes with a bigger screen camera, a memory card slot for playback of downloadable content, and also with a better battery.

According to Nintendo, which launched the DSi so far exclusively in Japan, the device will be in great demand the upcoming holiday season so the company already advised consumers to be quick to buy it when it will get its launching in Europe and North America ( next month).
