BitTorent Still at the Stirring Wheel
Recent study reveals that BitTorrent remains the most popular filesharing protocol around although P2P traffic decreases
A new Internet traffic report has been released by a German based company that focuses on bandwidth managing development for universities and Internet service providers.
According to the report the percentage of peer-to-peer traffic is somewhat on a descending slope, a growth in proportion coming from streaming websites and services that offer file hosting.
It seems that Eastern Europe accounts for most of the p2p users with more than half of all o
nline traffic coming from BitTorrent users.
At the other pole with the least BitTorrent traffic at (only 20% of total) stands Southern America – here Ares p2p client is still the leader accumulating 28%.
Another issue addressed by the research is the BitTorrent’s market-share of P2P traffic whose figures point towards a growth. Last year, Southwestern Europe saw a 45% increase, Middle East a 40% increase and finally a more modest 23% increase came from Eastern Europe.
