FindAnyFilm.com: UK’s Response to Movie Piracy
UK Film Council is trying to encourage people consider other legal options for watching a film by offering a new service
FindAnyFilm.com is a website created as an alternative to pirated movies available online. Launched by the UK Film Council the website searches for all the legal ways one can obtain a certain film going through different sorts of media, like theater showings, DVDs, online streams or digital downloads.
Rachel Grant, a spokeswoman at the U.K. Film Council pointed out that although the film industry is continuously complaining about losses caused by Internet piracy it hasn’t actually come up with a solid, easy alternative aimed at people interested in getting films legally.
Although the site provides film records for about 30,000 films it seems that you’re more likely to find the movie you’re looking for if it qualifies as popular and relatively recent. UK Film Council claims "Film fans' lives have just been revolutionised," and in spite of its obvious usefulness there are issues the group should consider. Arstechnica gave it a look and at a first impression they came with two problems – the first problem would be that of availability since only UK residents can use the service and the second problem is related to the filtering options of your searching results: "there's no way to filter for exactly the type of media you're looking for. It would be very useful to add a drop-down or a series of checkboxes that would let me limit my searches to streams and downloads, for example, and leave out results that are only available in arcane formats that I'm not interested in."

The search engine was developed by BlueBarracuda and will be the star of a big promotion marketing campaign, which will include display and search activity online.
