Top 10 Most Downloaded Movies via BitTorrent

OK, so we exited 2008 with Transporter 3 as No1 and with The Dark Knight as the most downloaded movie on BitTorrent ever. Surely, I’m not the only one anxiously waiting to see what 2009 will bring in terms of good cinema. For now let’s just start off by taking a look at our first top 10 of most popular film downloads via BitTorrent. TorrentFreak has published the data they collected with the top 10 most downloaded movies on BitTorrent for the week ended January 11th. According to the site, both DVD rips, DVD Screeners and R5 rips are counted.

“RocknRolla” is unsurprisingly the leader of the chart this week – it is a 2008 British crime film written and directed by Guy Ritchie, and starring Gerard Butler, Thandie Newton, and Tom Wilkinson. “Max Payne” comes in second and though the curiosity (mostly I assume of the gamers who wanted to see the switch of the story onto the big screen) may explain its presence in the top, the quality of the film doesn’t.
