Microsoft Comes Down Hard on Pirates
Microsoft continues the efforts to cut back on losses due to piracy and announces 63 new lawsuits against alleged pirates selling the company’s products (mainly Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office) on eBay and similar auction sites.
The lawsuits don’t concern only pirates from US but also from other countries like United Kingdom, France, Germany and Belgium.
The giant is apparently going after people accused of selling Windows XP or Office "Blue Edition", whose popularity on auction sites is increasing while being considered for gradual termination by the company.
Microsoft hopes to scare those tempted by the pirated copies warning them that 43% of these copies "had tampered code that could create a backdoor into the person's computer."
