An Innovative Social Music Service

IMVU.Inc, an online destination where people meet in 3D, announced yesterday the launch of IMVU Music through which users will be able to find and share their music in a social 3D setting. The main difference between this new service and other alike is that IMVU lets members purchase tracks, create playlists, and listen to them with other users of the service.

The site reads:

Just like an old-school text-based messenger, you download IMVU's software onto your PC. But with IMVU you create your own avatars who chat in animated 3D scenes.

Cary Rosenzweig, CEO of IMVU, Inc said in a statement:"IMVU Music makes the 3D experience even more compelling. People can have their avatars dance to the music or talk about the music. Music helps people be more expressive and emotionally engaged."

IMVU has become quite popular in the last few years and its community is constantly increasing. Now with IMVU Music the service goes for wide-ranging capabilities enabling a social music experience which will have members carry their personal avatars and music to a 3D room, where they will be able to share and make comments about the music being played.

Besides songs from EMI, Sony BMG, Warner and Universal, IMVU is also making available music from independent distributors and saying that IMVU members should use the chance to sell their own music via the service. According to the company Google Analytics tracks 10 million monthly unique visitors to IMVU, which points to a huge potential market for both regonized artists and aspiring ones.
