10 Video Sites Banned, 17 Others Warned

Ten video Websites were banned and 17 others were given warnings for infringing regulations in accordance with the State Administration of Radio Film and Television (photo right).

According to a Guangzhou Daily report, the action (which counts as the third from the administration) will have consequences only to the Websites’ video services. The first warning was issued in March followed by another one in May, the report says.

Twelve Shanghai-based video sites received a warning including resource sharing Website VeryCD.com and online game service provider 9you.com. The warnings were given in some cases due to the publishing of pornographic, shocking or violent content and in others for offering online video services without authorization or releasing video programs that go against national regulations.
