Orbit Downloader - Managing Downloads Easier, Faster

Orbit Downloader is a top download manger designed to make downloading videos, Flash games, and large batches of files much easier, though Firefox 2 users may have difficulty with integration. The application climbed the 6th place in the top of the most downloaded software on download.com with 354,732 downloads.

Orbit's main interface is rather too plain, but the basic toolbar and info boxes shows much intuitiveness. Orbit works well with Internet Explorer integration. If you want to grab a media file, just right-click a video or picture and select Download from your context menu. The task becomes even easier handling a Flash game download. When hovering over a Flash file, the program prompts a button for a fast download.

From the site:

"Orbit Downloader, leader of download manager revolution, is devoted to new generation web (web2.0) downloading, such as video/music/streaming media from Myspace, YouTube, Imeem, Pandora, Rapidshare, support RTMP. And to make general downloading easier and faster."

This freeware is highly recommended by download.com to anyone downloading large numbers of files. Here’s a how-to description:

Fast and small are key traits of this application. It uses a bare minimum of memory, and downloads are much faster than with a browser alone. Where Orbit shines is its one-button simplicity for downloading multiple files on a site. From there, you can easily filter for file type. Orbit's numerous configuration options make it one of the more flexible download managers available.

Although designed to integrate with the IE, Firefox, Opera and Maxthon, we had great difficulty getting Orbit to work seamlessly with Firefox. We finally gave up trying to get the Flash download feature to work.
