A licensing agreement covering Europe, Asia/Pacific, South America & Africa was reached two days ago by Universal Music Group International, a division of Universal Music Group, the world’s largest music company and Qtrax. The deal came after a similar one recently inked with Universal Music Group for North America.
Qtrax presents an ad-supported delivery model so created as to effortlessly and adequately direct revenue back to artists and rights owners. The service promises to provide consumers interested in downloading and installing the Qtrax client with the ability to search for, find and listen to a wide variety of high-quality tracks files amounting in the millions. The process of searching and downloading will involve a monetizing system based on sponsorships and advertising being sold. Qtrax will extend its service and also offer users the possibility to buy music and related items via its intuitive interface.
“UMG is the largest music company in the world and has shown great vision and leadership in a landscape that is rapidly changing,” said Allan Klepfisz, Chairman and CEO of Brilliant Technologies Corporation. “We are thrilled that Universal has chosen to lead the way forward with us internationally soon giving music fans everywhere access to UMG’s tremendous music catalogue.”
