BitSmash Offers BitTorrent Statistics Service
Whether it is the media, record labels, developers, people keen on peer-to-peer (P2P) as the most revolutionary way of distributing content in this new century, or others, BitTorrent stats are a matter of great concern. That’s why, a new service like BitSmash developed to provide statistics on all BitTorrent downloads rises instant interest and enthusiasm.
The site allows you to search from keywords, just like the average BitTorrent site, and offers several ways of sorting the results. Moreover, the service also presents you with graphs of changes in different statistics over time for every torrent.
Although the official date for the launch of the service is October 15th, the website is already fully operational. Since this is a project under making there are some weak points as for example the accuracy of some of the statistics reported. Let’s hope that time will bring further improvements as the service does indeed show potential.
From the site:
Bitsmash is eventually going to provide an XML-API for BitTorrent statistics. Right now, this site (shown) is in a somewhat “beta”-status for testing and consistency.
We’re also not sure what kind of load is going to be required to run a project such-as this, but we’ll have to wait and find out.
Keep in mind that this is NOT a project to promote copyright-infringement or piracy, nor to combat it. We are merely a third-party that provides statistics of all BitTorrent traffic, regardless of content. We do not redistribute any such content or even offer the ‘.torrent’ files from which such content could be recreated or copied.
It is also nearly impossible for us to verify if content is real, fake, copyrighted, illegal, virus-ridden, or even stolen — which is why we also open our statistics pages for discussion. So, go nuts everyone! Let’s see where this goes.
We, here at P2PON, are definitely curious about where will this lead to and expect good things to come out of this project.
