Shareaza 2.4 Now Available
Here comes the first stable release to include IRC support and the TorrentWizard to simplify BitTorrent downloading.
Shareaza is a P2P file-sharing application which came into existence as an open source on June 1, 2004. The program supports the Gnutella, Gnutella2, eDonkey Network, BitTorrent, FTP and HTTP network protocols and also manages magnet links, ed2k links, Piolet links, and the Gnutella links as well.
Shareaza 2.4 makes no modest entry – it claims about 900 changes from the previous release. The version includes plenty of bug fixes and other significant adjustments meant to render improved performance of the client. Additionally, this is the first stable release to come with IRC support.
See - ChangeLog.
The present stable release was the result of 9 months of diligent work and commitment despite a rather uneasy state of affairs caused by the hijack of the project's domain name, Shareaza.com back on December 19th, 2007 when it was redirected to a totally different site that was putting forward for download a client called ShareazaV4. Consequently, the solution found would have SourceForge.net hosting the home page of the original project.
Note: Upgrading from any prior version is safe, however downgrading from 2.4 back to prior releases may lose active downloads. A clean install should clear up any unusual behaviors.
