HighWinds & Octoshape Join Forces for P2P Solution
Ventures and partnerships keep spreading when p2p is the keyword in the business. Companies merging, technology implemented, competition rising. Highwinds Network Group (highwinds.com), a multi-platform IP services and content distribution provider, has teamed up with Octoshape (octoshape.com) a leading provider of high-quality, peer-assisted streaming solutions provider. Their objective is to develop a hybrid, peer-to-peer, content delivery network solution for streaming live events to millions of concurrent worldwide users.
The announcement tells about Octoshape's total integration with its p2p data transmission technology and its CDN and real-time analytical tools into Highwinds. The new system will even lead to major broadcasters being able to power an important segment of the most viewed live events online.
"We were very impressed with Highwinds' top-tier network and value-adds like real-time reporting, so it was a natural choice to combine our complementary technologies and services…It's really a win-win solution for broadcaster and viewer," said Octoshape chief executive officer Stephen Alstrup.
Highwinds and Octoshape are planning to reveal the integrated solution at this week's Streaming Media West (streamingmedia.com/west/) conference and exhibition in San Jose, California.
