Risky Downloads, Dangerous Celebs
Internet security firm McAfee published its second annual list of the riskiest celebrities on the Internet yesterday according to which Brad Pitt has surpassed Paris Hilton as the most dangerous celeb to search for.
McAfee warns fans searching for "Brad Pitt," "Brad Pitt downloads" and Brad Pitt wallpaper, screen savers and pictures they have an 18 per cent chance of having their computers infected with spyware, spam, phishing, adware, viruses and other malware.
Malware writers and scammers are known for using celebrity names and images to trick Internet users into accessing bogus sites, the company adds.
In the male category Pitt and Justin Timberlake are “awarded” as the most dangerous men, while in the female category Beyoncé and Heidi Montag are the ones you should “fear”. This list can be also seen as an indicator of popularity thus Hilton, who made it on the 1st place last year as the most dangerous VIP, is not present this time. The same thing with Britney Spears who was No. 4 last year.
The list also includes more risky celebs to be the subject of your search such as Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Cameron Diaz, George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Katie Holmes and Katherine Heigl; singers Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Fergie; and soccer star David Beckham.
So mind your appetite for celebs – what you download and where you download it from.
