One CD, Four Uploaders…Copy Copyright Infringement
It’s been almost a year since OiNK, one of the largest private BitTorrent trackers, was put offline following the cooperative investigation of Dutch and British authorities.
Yesterday, administrator Alan Ellis was charged with “conspiracy to defraud” and a short time later four of the file sharers arrested for swapping music using the service were charged with copyright infringement, allegedly for uploading a single CD, according to TorrentFreak.
The site also informs that the case will move to a Magistrates Court in two weeks, but a Crown court is not excluded for a definitive ruling. Here’s what one of the charged uploaders told TorrentFreak. “I think it’s a sledgehammer to crack a walnut.” Well, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
Probably more on the case as soon as official statements are made.
