Michael Moore’s Latest Documentary to Be Released on the Web for Free
Michael Moore needs no introduction for most of you who have watched or at least heard about its controversial documentaries. The famous filmmaker has made another surprising announcement (but then again, coming from him…) that he intends to release his latest documentary online exclusively for free and not the old fashion theatre way.
The previous documentaries of Moore were immediate success - last movie, "Sicko", brought $24.5 million USD earnings in the theatres and came after the blockbuster "Fahrenheit 9/11" which collected a total of $119 million domestic.
The title of this latest production is "Slacker Uprising", set for release on September 23rd, and documents a 62 city tour of what Moore calls "key swing states during the 2004 U.S. presidential election" where he was trying to motivate non-voters into registering and voting.
"This is being done entirely as a gift to my fans," added Moore in a statement. "The only return any of us are hoping for is the largest turnout of young voters ever at the polls in November."
It seems that Moore together with movie executives Bob and Harvey Weinstein (who own all international rights for the movie) came personally with the $2 million USD budget of the film.
You will be able to download the movie at BlipTV starting September 23rd.
