Gamers Don’t Play…with Us!
Gaming company receives compensation fees in piracy case.
The company behind Dream Pinball 3D, Topware Interactive, has been given around £6,000 plus payments of £10,000 against an individual who uploaded a copy of the game on a file-sharing network on the Web.
Topware Interactive initiated an offensive against the illegal use of their product via file-sharing last year. Following its victory in obtaining the details of suspected pirates, the company claimed compensation from the offenders in questions. The file sharer who lost to the company in this case had contested the action which was heard recently in London’s Patent County Court.
This case is intended as a strong anti-file sharing warning against gamers and some similar legal events are expected to follow. Something tells me heavy gamers will not be so easily discouraged.
