Music Service from UK ISP to Pay Labels For Illegal Downloads ?
Apparently, one of the largest ISPs from UK is getting ready to launch an unlimited music service through which it will pay record labels for tracks illegally downloaded by its customers.
According to Playlouder MSP (media service provider), which five years ago put the model to test for itself, it will ease up the service for the broadband operator, at the beginning of 2009. Although co-founder Paul Sanders didn’t reveal the identity of the ISP, paidContent:UK might have a track which indicate Virgin Media as the one in question here as it apparently had some negotiations going with Playlouder MSP.
The new state of affairs derives also from the fact that once the largest six ISPs have taken on to cutting down illegal downloading on their networks, commercial alternatives are in great need and not any alternatives but ones with the same potential to attract customers.
Playlouder's service offers users legitimate downloads from channels such as Gnutella, BitTorrent and others.
