AT&T: New Store, New Approach
The two AT&T locations at 5040 Hardy St. and 3901 Hardy St. are no longer functioning as the company has chosen to direct its attention and business to its latest store which customers can find in the Turtle Creek Crossing Shopping Center off U.S. 98 West.
According to store manager Brenda Allen, the offerings of the new AT&T store will greatly exceed the former offerings.
In July AT&T launched the iPhone 3G, which basically is a combination of cell phone, iPod and an Internet browser joined into one unit. There are several new features in the new 3G model such as access to Apple's new App Store, where iPhone users are able to download new applications ranging from business to entertainment.
The original iPhone, just like Blackberries and other handheld Internet devices, currently use a wireless data-driven network called the Edge network while the new iPhone supports the 3G network, whose services are similar to those of the Edge network but at a faster rate of speed and including a larger number of options.
Among others, the new superstore will focus on AT&T's alternate services, including DSL and dish services.
Allen emphasized the customer-oriented approach of the store and the revealed part of the concept behind it:
There's not one customer here that will walk out of this store not knowing what they have.We want our customers to be comfortable with the product, to see it and play with it while they are in the store. Everything's live, even down to the wireless headsets.
