Sony Europe CEO Advocating File Sharing?
It seems that New Zealand and Australia based Sony gamers are to a great extent "disadvantaged" compared to their European cousins as they have to stand 4-5 month delays on regular basis in receiving shipments of new PAL region game release titles, ZeroPaid reports.
Those wanting to legally buy copies of the latest games have encountered quite an unpleasant experience but fortunately, and finally, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO David Reeves (right) has addressed the matter at E3, the annual trade show for the computer and video games industry.
The man gave quite an interesting an amazingly sincere interview to Buttonmasher that makes your eyebrow go up in a bit of suspicion. Firstly, he admitted that the 4-5 month delay for Sony gamers in New Zealand and Australia will still be experienced in the future.
"I think honestly you will continue to do that because I don’t think that the localization is controlled enough in the USA to be able to put it into New Zealand," says Reeves.
What solution does he give? Odd as it may seem – go ahead and download the games from BitTorrent.
"We are a PAL market and we are going to do it in PAL and we are going to do it properly, you can wait for it and you can have it in good quality, you know you can get the stuff from Bittorrent if you want to and download PSP games, it’s up to you," he adds.
Not the typical answer you would get in such cases, especially that he even endorses the downloading of PSP games from BitTorrent. Yeah, definitely surprising.
