On-Demand File Sharing with Streamfile
Streamfile is a hosted FTP alternative providing streaming ability. Streamfile.com offers you the chance to “stream” files that are too large to email without having to install any other program besides a browser. What is streaming, you ask? Well, to cut it brief - when an uploader sends a file, those who download can begin doing so right away. It will actually save them as much as to 90% time compared to a traditional FTP server-to-client transfer. This indeed resembles peer-to-peer, but it incluides a 24h answering service. Besides that, all of the file transfers present you with the possibility to encrypt them using high-grade AES 256-bit SSL encryption.
At the backend, Streamfile operates as a substitute to your conventional FTP transfer service. Streamfile lets you download files almost instantly after the initiation of an upload. Pando provides a feature alike but for that service it is necessary the use of proprietary software at either end of an set link to work correctly. Moreover, Streamfile can keep a 256-bit encryption if you need it to.
Streamfile is enticing due to its capability to broadcast files of up to 2GB very fast to selected email addresses, but also due to its uncomplicated structure. Your operations will be conducted through the browser within an well-designed and light input menu. You really don't have to run proprietary software. All you have to do is browse for a file, give how many email addresses you need and start “streaming.”
Streamfile claims it can host data for a total of 24 hours. The developers give the purpose of this limit: “By storing data for shorter time periods than our competitors… we can maximize performance and bandwidth to guarantee superior door-to-door delivery speeds.”
For the moment, any user can benefit from the service (based in Stockholm, Sweden) without being charged (until August 31).
