eMule and Open Office: Two Kinds of Winners at Sourceforge Awards
Remeber the Sourceforge Community Awards we were telling you about some posts ago? Well, ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner…Yeap, once again from the envelope the name eMule came out establishing another "success" at the 3rd annual Sourceforge community awards. Looks like file sharers everywhere gave eMule a very convincing vote that it was the most likely p2p client to get its users sued.
However, Sourceforge tried to sneak a thrust, announcing that eMule was “Most Likely to Get Users Sued by Anachronistic Industry Associations Defending Dead Business Models."
Sourceforge awards' big winner was Open Office, a feasible, community driven, free alternative to Microsoft Office. As some statistics put it, Open Office has an on the whole 24% market share in the productivity realm, and no less than 35% in Germany. Open Office was given the award for "Best Overall", "Best Project for the Enterprise", and "Best Project for Educators".
Back in 2006 eMule won in the "Best Overall" category, and in 2007 in the "Best New Project" category.
