Anomos to Secure P2P Through Encryption
More than a week ago we told you about the Pirate Bay’s intention to secure P2P through encryption. Well, they seem to have some competition now. Rich Jones and John Schanck are two developers who have planned a new P2P protocol which is a sort of a mixture between encryption and some degree of anonymity. They made the first public presentation at a recent HOPE conference.
The protocol which called Anomos, is based on Bittorrent and is actually an improvement of the popular P2P protocol with end to end encryption and a routing mix network. This means that data packets are routed using several relays before finally getting to their destination.
The duo used the recent HOPE conference for a first public presentation. You can watch a somewhat non-technical video with a way to long pre-roll ad about the project below.
For more (technical) information visit the Anomos website. Currently, there isn’t any code you can download, but according to Jones and Schanck a working alpha client will be available in a few weeks.
