Microsoft Releases New Live Mesh: Mobile & P2P - Mac Version Is Expected
After just opening up Live Mesh to all users and also releasing a mobile version of it, Microsoft strikes again. Yesterday, the giant software company announced important update for the same service and said users will be able to sync files straight between different devices without being required to sync to the Live Desktop first. The positive outcome - users will this way be allowed to bypass the 5GB limit of Live Mesh's online storage.
P2P Feature
Basically, bypassing the Live Desktop implies that those files are not available online from anywhere anymore, but for a lot of usage scenarios (backup, syncing between desktop and laptop etc.), the online storage being actually rather redundant. However, we hope the 5GB limit will be increased eventually, or at least users will get to buy more space.
With this new version of Live Mesh you have the ability to deal with potential file conflicts on the Live Desktop.
Mobile Feature
The mobile version of Live Mesh, which provides users with the chance to access their files from their mobile phones or any other Internet connected device using an optimized site. Not only does it do a great job on Windows Mobile phones but it also successfully supports the iPhone.
However, the mobile client for Live Mesh is still to be expected as this is merely a method to have files available for you more easily from a mobile device.
But this is not enough for the company - the rumor has it that Microsoft has in mind an official Mac client not far in the future.
