Wuala to Launch Beta for P2P Storage Service
Wuala, the online storage service, will be launching a public beta on 14 August. The company's website offers a quick peek of the service for those interested.
The announcement came from Dominik Grolimund, CEO of Wuala: "We're thrilled to announce that we will launch the public beta on 14 August. After almost four years of development and about ten months in closed alpha, we're ready to open it up to everyone."
Peer-to-peer technology together with encryption are the key words of the service in offering distributed online storage for users. It goes like this: if you’re a Wuala user, you are able to store a small part of other users' data, offering permanent access to all users from any PC.
If you want to know more about the service and you can check out the site and also make an early sign up for the open beta test. Starting with September 2007 the company has been running a limited alpha test, having more than one million files shared by users through its service.
Current versions of the client software support Mac and Linux.
