TV downloads Available via Australian iTunes Store
There’s good news for Australian iTunes fans: TV downloads coming their way, finally. Apple made no fuss when launching the service a few days ago. Some of the major content providers are the Disney Channel, ABC Studios, MTV, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Australia's Nine Network.
Among the shows made available are Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and South Park, while the Australian offer includes McLeod's Daughters, Sea Patrol II, Summer Heights High and We Can Be Heroes. The standard price for all programs is $2.99 per episode ($1 more than in USA) but you can also buy an entire season with sums ranging from $15 to $65. Worth mentioning might be the fact that all the 23 available TV shows seem to have enjoyed previous screening on Australian television.
Apple Australia was quite discreet about the new addition and no official statement about it has been made. The only indication towards the introduction of television downloads was a sign reading "TV Shows just added" displayed on the front page of the Australian iTunes store.
This period announces itself as a prolific one: the new offer occurs a short time after the opening of the Sydney Apple store and only weeks before the company will launch the iPhone 3G in the same country. These TV programs downloads made available support the iPhone as well as the Apple TV set top box.
