Crandy inaugurates international P2P (mobile payment) service with Africa

Many mobile phone users will be happy to learn that being located anywhere within the European Union you have now the possibility to transfer money to Africa. The system that allows that is Crandy’s “Call & Pay” and it was launched in Douala – Cameroon.

To its implementation Mobile Money Cameroon S.A, the service provider in Cameroon and UBC the depository bank contributed as partners. Short term projections see the system rolled-out in eight other countries in the region.

What’s great about this banking service is that it enables mobile telephone users to make money transfers without having to register first. You can actually make the transfer from either a rechargeable card or a bank account. Basically, the sender makes the transfer simply through a phone call while the receiver (who gets the information through an SMS) only has to go to the nearest UBC of FIFFA branch to pick up the money.

As expected the “Call & Pay” system and Crandy’s telephone service are connected, the latter allowing low price international mobile phone calls.

“Call & Pay”, already seen as a permissive and highly protected system, will come into use, in the following month, at a local level in the countries interested in offering a large number of subscribers, the opportunity of implementing Crandy as a mobile banking service and also as a way of carrying out local payments.

With the purpose of expanding its transfer options, Crandy’s “cash in” system has already established its technical structure in order to enable the banking systems around the world employ its P2P technology for its Europe-based African clients.
