Technology offered by Mirage Networks Promises Control over File Sharing Applications

Indiana University Southeast tries out fresh technology developed by Mirage Networks, Centredaily.com reports. The technology, called NAC (full-cycle Network Access Control), is used to get a better network uptime and accessibility – the key words: control over peer-to-peer P2P networking programs.

Mirage's cutting-edge technology is the outcome of leading endpoint control technology combined with the network visibility and intelligence necessary to efficiently protect the network interior. It provides inspection of every packet from every endpoint through its accurate monitoring and recognition of network traffic unique to P2P applications. What’s more, its capabilities allows creating a link between the network activity and the accountable endpoint which can therefore be isolated until the user meets the network guidelines.

Full-cycle Network Access Control, the very feature of Mirage, is what keeps danger away from networks. This modern technological system facilitates a network performance at its best by managing network access, analyzing network behavior, detecting and separating ill-behaving endpoints, and offering self-reparatory capabilities. The best things about this network-based solution are that it doesn’t need an agent software, it deploys "virtually inline," and requires no specific environment to work in.

Apparently, what triggered the need for such technology is IT organizations concern with having their network resources consumed by bandwidth-throttling P2P file sharing; naturally, these organizations are expected to be most interested in Mirage's “product” - "Many of the world's leading higher education institutions rely on Mirage to deliver an easy to deploy NAC solution that continually monitors endpoint traffic to pinpoint threatening or out-of-policy behavior, which can include illegal file sharing" ,declared Trent Fitz, vice president of marketing for Mirage Networks.
