iTunes New Downloads to Coincide with DVD releases
At the same time with their release on DVD, iTunes will also offer for purchase new movies released by major studios such as 20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Warner Bros. and Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Associate Press reports.
This move by Apple Inc. will turn iTunes into an even much stronger competitor against DVD retailers as up to now a large percent of the titles you could purchase over iTunes were older releases and the newer films would become available for iTunes users only after 30 days would pass from their release on DVD.
Apple Inc seems inspired by the success its store is experiencing and it certainly doesn’t look like having any second thoughts about expending its range of digital entertainment even further. An important factor linked to this expending venture are the Apple TV set-top boxes, which the company relies on to secure its place on the market with streaming videos and other content ranging from users' PCs to their TV.
According to Apple among this week’s available new movies via iTunes that are also released on DVD release are "American Gangster" and "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" which will join other titles in the store like "Juno," "I Am Legend," "Cloverfield," and "There Will Be Blood."
New releases will be available for $14.99 whereas older movies can be purchased for $9.99.
