Sweden:Left Party Backs Up File Sharing
The Left Party’s governing board goes against the flow (or is that with it?) and intends to give a green light to downloading of copyrighted films and music for personal use, the Local.se reports.
Apparently the governing board thinks that the system of surveillance and control necessary for the current ban is just too big, and this was its argument in a response to a motion to the party congress.
The same board considers that copyrighted material should freely circulate over the Internet provided that it is not used for commercial purposes.
However, the Green Party board seems to be conscious of the fact that copyright owners do need and must be ensured an efficient system of economic compensation.
If we go back a few years ago, only the Green Party and the Centre Party did not vote in favour of a Riksdag motion to ban the downloading of film and music.
