Video streaming from Mininova
Mininova, the popular BitTorrent tracker site, has recently posted on its official blog an announcement regarding the Beta testing of a fresh and great feature that will enable visitors of the site to stream video almost instantly using the Tribler open source BitTorrent client.
The software employed is developed by the The Tribler team at the Technical University of Delft/Netherlands. Freek Zindel speaking for the Tribler team – "Currently we are working on new algorithms that allow bittorrent streaming, "- This would mean that an user will be able to watch a video as it downloads. According to the site’s statement the first beta release of this software will be invitation-only for a small group of Mininova members. Due to different reasons it will only work with Featured torrents. In addition, the application will be gathering certain statistics, leaving out of these reports, however, any personal information.
Furthermore, this is an open source based application meaning total transparency.
